“The Pyramid,” a 2014 found footage horror film, culminates in a thrilling and dark finale. The movie follows an archeological team led by father-daughter duo Miles and Nora Holden, who discover a previously unknown pyramid buried deep beneath the Egyptian desert. Their venture to uncover its secrets leads them into a harrowing and sinister world within the pyramid.

The climax of the film reveals the true horror lurking inside the pyramid: Anubis, a half-human, half-jackal god known in Egyptian mythology as the devourer. Anubis is on a quest for a pure heart, which he believes will allow him to join his creator, Osiris, in the afterlife. The god’s wrath is unleashed on those who enter the pyramid, as he hunts for a heart pure enough to pass the final judgment of the afterlife.

In the final scenes, Nora and her cameraman, Fitzie, are the only survivors, desperately trying to escape Anubis. Nora deciphers clues in a burial chamber, leading them to an air shaft exit. However, their escape is thwarted when Anubis catches up. Fitzie is killed, and Nora is captured. In a desperate bid for freedom, Nora fights off Anubis and nearly escapes, but a severely injured Nora is left facing a young boy outside the pyramid. The movie ends ambiguously, with Anubis emerging and lunging at the boy, leaving viewers to ponder whether Anubis will find the pure heart he seeks or continue his rampage outside the pyramid.
